First Steps
Since First Steps orientations are not model-specific, providing a through introduction to firearm safety, handling, and shooting skills.
New Firearms owners are encouraged to take the “first steps” of obtaining training, and this program is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation of firearms.
3D STS instructors will help you with choosing a firearms at local shop.
All classes have a $50 non-refundable deposit.

Basic Pistol
The NRA Basic Pistol Class is the National Rifle Association’s response to the American public’s need for a firearm program for new shooters.
Basic Pistol shooting course introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Students learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. This class is specifically geared for those individuals wanting to learn shooting fundamentals.

This course concentrates on advanced shooting skills, pivoting and turning to fire, movement while firing, unconventional shooting positions, two-man tactics, use of the back-up and off-duty pistol, how to handle stress inoculation, as well as reduced-light training with the pistol and rifle.

Concealed Carry Weapon Permit
During this NRA-certified course, students will learn the five firearms safety rules, firearms manipulation (semi-auto and revolvers), safe storage of handguns and child safety, safe handgun shooting fundamentals, ammunition storage, mental conditioning and tactics. Students will learn to recognize threats and understand proper judgment in shooting.
We will cover techniques for avoiding a criminal attack and how to control a violent confrontation, techniques for non-violent dispute resolution and knowing when to use deadly physical force.
This course also covers federal, state and local criminal and civil laws pertaining to purchase, ownership, transportation, and use and possession of handguns.
This course will be taught in the classroom and at the range and requires 200 9mm rounds (not provided).
Students will receive a certificate of graduation complying with New Mexico state mandates.

Do you teach Concealed Carry Permit classes?
Yes, we offer Concealed Carry courses and cover all thestate requirements for certification.
How long is the Concealed Carry class?
The course is a total of 15 hours as required by the state of New Mexico. The course is taught over two days (generally weekends) and covers classroom and range training.
Do I need my own gun to take the Concealed Carry course?
While we do encourage students to certify with a firearm that they are comfortable with, it is not a requirement to have your own gun. We offer gun rentals for classes for a small fee.
Do you provide ammunition for firearm classes?
The cost of classes does not include ammunition. You are welcome to bring your own or you can purchase ammunition from us.
How long is a Concealed Carry permit good for?
After you complete your class, your certification is valid for 4 years. If you are active military veteran, or law enforcement, your certification is valid for 5 years. You are required to take a two-year refresher.
If I have a Concealed Carry permit, do I have to requalify every two years?
Yes. While your certification is good for 4 years, you doneed to requalify at a shooting range every two years.
Do you offer Concealed Carry permit classes for women?
Yes. If our students prefer to be in a female-only class,contact us for the dates of our next female-only class.
How old do you have to be to take a firearm class?
While there is no law that requires a minimum age for firearm classes, we do require students to beat least 11 years of age and all minors must have a guardian present.
Is there an age requirement to get a Concealed Carry permit?
Yes, the state of New Mexico requires that people are at least 21 years of age to get a concealed carry permit.
Do you do private small group classes?
Yes, our trainers will work with you to schedule private classes when it is convenient for you. Do we require a minimum of five people, however when you pay for four students, the fifth student is free.
